Favorite Social Network

June 30, 2010

Just got off the telephone with one of my clients.  Part of our conversation was about social networks and which ones we like and/or find most valuable.  His personal favorite choices are: FaceBook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.  He is a very successful Realtor(R) and feels itsocial network is very important to be on Facebook.

What social network is your favorite?

I use all 3 social networks – FaceBook, Twitter, and LinkedIn along with a couple of others Biznik, StumbleUpon, and RainToday.   Keeping my own accounts active is my biggest challenge but I know that continued activity is key to spreading the word/s.  The personal side of these accounts can be a vortex and before you know it, you’ve spent 2 hours catching up with friends you haven’t communicated with in years!

Tips for entrepreneurs/business owners:

1)  select 2 or 3 networks that fit you/your business;
2)  make sure you keep active in and on your social networks of choice;
3)  admitting you need some help isn’t bad – knowing you need help and not asking for it is bad! :)

If you need assistance getting started in social networking or just need help now that you are up and running – hire me! or a savvy virtual assistant who can post polished, relevant information regarding you and your business.

Best to you,
Jan

online business branding marketingOn a regular basis,  I strongly recommend to clients (and potential clients) to get on the bus when it comes to business strategies and the importance of business branding.  Your online presence should reflect your business image, company message, and color scheme across the internet on ALL of your networks.  Web viewers are into instant gratification and make split second decisions on whether they are compelled to investigate your site (your products/services) or jump on over to the next (your competitor’s) website.   Their perception of you/your business might be jeopardized if you have different messages, logos, etc. on each of your networking affiliations.

It is critically important to project your brand on each marketing vehicle you use including your social media connections.  Are all of your networks portraying the same color scheme, logo, core business statements?  If not, make it a point to unify your sites.  Need assistance?  Contact your virtual assistant or me!

Best to you,
Jan

I received an email from Amazon today regarding my Associate affiliation with them.  As of today, my account was closed due to a new law enacted only in Colorado.

Here’s an excerpt, “The regulations are burdensome and no other state has similar rules. The new regulations do not require online retailers to collect sales tax. Instead, they are clearly intended to increase the
compliance burden to a point where online retailers will be induced to “voluntarily” collect Colorado sales tax ‐‐ a course we won’t take.
We and many others strongly opposed this legislation, known as HB 10‐1193, but it was enacted anyway. Regrettably, as a result of the new law, we have decided to stop advertising through Associates based in Colorado. We plan to continue to sell to Colorado residents, however, and will advertise through other channels, including through Associates based in other states.
There is a right way for Colorado to pursue its revenue goals, but this new law is a wrong way. As we repeatedly communicated to Colorado legislators, including those who sponsored and supported the new law, we are not opposed to collecting sales tax within a constitutionally‐permissible system applied even‐handedly.”

You can click  Colorado Govt shuts down Amazon Associates to read the notification Amazon emailed to me.  There are links included in case you, too, care to voice your opinion to the Colorado legislators.

This is a very unfortunate circumstance that rings “big brother”.  While I’m not one to strike up conversations about politics, this sure seems wrong.

Tell me your thoughts on this new law.

Best to you,
Jan

Are you currently marketing your business via email?  Email marketing is an immensely beneficial direct marketing tool.  Today, more and more online business owners are turning to email marketing as their primary means to generate more business.  Because of the minimal costs involved, you have a greater chance to generate a profitable return on any money invested.

In recent years, many business owners have begun relying on email marketing specialists (i.e. virtual assistants) to expand the reach of their internet marketing efforts.  It makes sense because internet users use email.   It takes knowledge to target the right category of consumers and encourage them to opt-in through enticing offerings.  Keep subscribers engaged by writing relevant and compelling content and conveying information on a regular basis.

What makes this platform even more appealing is that email marketing has proven to be more effective in generating sales leads than many other direct marketing platforms!  Measuring the efficiency and effectiveness is simple because most platforms have tracking features such as read rates, open rates, and click-throughs.  Use the results gathered to gain valuable insights on how best to communicate with your target audience and modify your marketing efforts accordingly.

Your virtual assistant can build effective email marketing campaign, allowing you to spend more time on other important aspects of your online business.

Email marketing should be an integral part of promoting any type of online business.  Through this platform, you can enhance brand reputation, reach out to a larger market, and track results in an inexpensive manner.  You can achieve outcomes they would never expect from any other direct marketing platform.  In fact, an email marketing campaign can be effective enough to be an online business’ ONLY means to generate more revenue.

Goals 2010

December 30, 2009

Some people are “Goals People” and some are not.  I am.  If you are or want to be, here is your final reminder to make your list of Goals for 2010 RIGHT NOW if you haven’t already done so.

Here are a few reasons why it is important…EVA vision goals 2010

– you achieve more when focused on your goals
– accountability to stay on course
– a quick glance at the list as a great reminder (and we all try to keep too much in our heads these days  =)

To help you implement your list, fill in these blanks for each goal:
– number or categorize each goal
– state why it is important
– list the steps required to achieve the goal
– set a target date to reach the goal

It is also important to review your goals on a daily basis (preferably several times a day- think breakfast, lunch and dinner times).

If you need help planning, detailing, implementing, or reaching your goals, consider working with a virtual assistant, like me!  I have been setting and achieving my own goals for years and have helped others with their goals and have taken courses on the subject.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Wishing you a very happy and prosperous 2010!

Best to you,

Jan

Facebook – Adding Pictures

November 18, 2009

A couple of people have recently contacted me because they couldn’t remember (or figure out) how to add pictures/build an album on their Facebook account.

Here’s the simple version:

1) Choose the pictures you want to upload into Facebook and save them to your computer Desktop (or an equally prominent location on your computer).

2) Log into your Facebook account and from your Profile page, select the Photos tab.

3) On the far right side on the page there is a Create an Photo Album button, click it.

4) Fill in the album name, description and privacy setting information.  Click the Create Album button at the bottom of the section.

5) Select the photos for this album per Step 1 above – you can select one photo at a time or a whole bunch!  Click Upload Photos.

That’s it!Facebook album add pictures to album

You can further modify and organize the pictures in the album if you so desire.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best to you,
Jan

Print Screen

Print Screen

I know you have seen the Print Screen button inthe upper right corner of your keyboard but have you ever used it?  I use it ALL the time.  When I work with clients on how to use their computer – Basics 101 – in my computer tutor training, I use the Print Screen to build a handout to leave with the client.

Print Screen is used with the Shift button to capture a snapshot of your computer screen or with the Alt button to capture a snapshot of your active window.  Take this snapshot and paste it into Word or another program.  Easy as pie!

Advanced Access customers

August 12, 2009

Hello!

One of my Realtor® clients forwarded an Advanced Access e-newsletter to me that announced Single Property websites are now available to Advanced Access customers!  There was no mention in the e-newsletter that you must be a 4.0 user of Advanced Access.  It isn’t available to 3.0 users – OOPS!

In the case of this particular client, it doesn’t matter because he already uses Single Property Sites (which is a terrific program!) to market his listings!

It is still a good day to be a virtual assistant! :)
