I guess one of the best aspects of owning my own virtual assistance business is the fact that I get to choose the clients I partner with and, luckily, have made some really, really good choices! : )I love my virtual assistant clients

I work with individuals in varied industries (from science to those in real estate) and I get to work on exceptional and uncommon projects.  Yay!

Loving my diverse day today…thanks to my clients!

Hope yours is a good day, too!

THANK YOU!

Social Media Networking

August 23, 2012

Personally, I prefer using Facebook for my business, LinkedIn and Twitter – in that order.  I have other accounts but do not use them the way I initially intended when I signed up.  social media logos

Also, I’m not a huge proponent of blasting the exact same post/info across all networks and think that it may be/become annoying on some level to those who follow you on more than 1 social media network (which I’ve said in the past).

Do you have a preferred social media network for your business?  If you use one and not others, why?  What are your thoughts/comments?

6 Years Ago Today…

September 9, 2010

6 years ago today I launched my eva-colo website telling the world my virtual assistance business was officially open!  Of course, I’m totally revamping the site now, again :) I love what I do and am SO very appreciative of my clients – they/you are the best!  Thank you.

I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by.

Best to you,

Jan

Favorite Social Network

June 30, 2010

Just got off the telephone with one of my clients.  Part of our conversation was about social networks and which ones we like and/or find most valuable.  His personal favorite choices are: FaceBook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.  He is a very successful Realtor(R) and feels itsocial network is very important to be on Facebook.

What social network is your favorite?

I use all 3 social networks – FaceBook, Twitter, and LinkedIn along with a couple of others Biznik, StumbleUpon, and RainToday.   Keeping my own accounts active is my biggest challenge but I know that continued activity is key to spreading the word/s.  The personal side of these accounts can be a vortex and before you know it, you’ve spent 2 hours catching up with friends you haven’t communicated with in years!

Tips for entrepreneurs/business owners:

1)  select 2 or 3 networks that fit you/your business;
2)  make sure you keep active in and on your social networks of choice;
3)  admitting you need some help isn’t bad – knowing you need help and not asking for it is bad! :)

If you need assistance getting started in social networking or just need help now that you are up and running – hire me! or a savvy virtual assistant who can post polished, relevant information regarding you and your business.

Best to you,
Jan

Good Day All!

We are closing in on the half way point for 2010!  Can you believe it?
– Are you achieving your goals?
– What challenges or obstacles are keeping you from reaching your goals?

Personally, I have had to alter a few aspects of what I initially considered to virtual assistant meets goalbe the “definition” of my goals.  Example: under my Career section, one goal addressed having a “full” client base – which USED to mean having enough business coming in to fill 8-10 hours each day/5 days a week.  However, to fit my current work/life balance, my full work day as a virtual assistant is closer to 4 hours due to other responsibilities.  According to my *old* definition, I wasn’t achieving my full work day, but alas, I AM!   Not only am I achieving this goal, I’m exceeding it with plenty of work and best of all, I’m working with some really great clients…even “ideal” clients.  I love it!  A big THANK YOU to my pleasant, professional, upbeat, busy clients …. ahhh … success abounds!

Best to you,
Jan

I received an email from Amazon today regarding my Associate affiliation with them.  As of today, my account was closed due to a new law enacted only in Colorado.

Here’s an excerpt, “The regulations are burdensome and no other state has similar rules. The new regulations do not require online retailers to collect sales tax. Instead, they are clearly intended to increase the
compliance burden to a point where online retailers will be induced to “voluntarily” collect Colorado sales tax ‐‐ a course we won’t take.
We and many others strongly opposed this legislation, known as HB 10‐1193, but it was enacted anyway. Regrettably, as a result of the new law, we have decided to stop advertising through Associates based in Colorado. We plan to continue to sell to Colorado residents, however, and will advertise through other channels, including through Associates based in other states.
There is a right way for Colorado to pursue its revenue goals, but this new law is a wrong way. As we repeatedly communicated to Colorado legislators, including those who sponsored and supported the new law, we are not opposed to collecting sales tax within a constitutionally‐permissible system applied even‐handedly.”

You can click  Colorado Govt shuts down Amazon Associates to read the notification Amazon emailed to me.  There are links included in case you, too, care to voice your opinion to the Colorado legislators.

This is a very unfortunate circumstance that rings “big brother”.  While I’m not one to strike up conversations about politics, this sure seems wrong.

Tell me your thoughts on this new law.

Best to you,
Jan

Are you currently marketing your business via email?  Email marketing is an immensely beneficial direct marketing tool.  Today, more and more online business owners are turning to email marketing as their primary means to generate more business.  Because of the minimal costs involved, you have a greater chance to generate a profitable return on any money invested.

In recent years, many business owners have begun relying on email marketing specialists (i.e. virtual assistants) to expand the reach of their internet marketing efforts.  It makes sense because internet users use email.   It takes knowledge to target the right category of consumers and encourage them to opt-in through enticing offerings.  Keep subscribers engaged by writing relevant and compelling content and conveying information on a regular basis.

What makes this platform even more appealing is that email marketing has proven to be more effective in generating sales leads than many other direct marketing platforms!  Measuring the efficiency and effectiveness is simple because most platforms have tracking features such as read rates, open rates, and click-throughs.  Use the results gathered to gain valuable insights on how best to communicate with your target audience and modify your marketing efforts accordingly.

Your virtual assistant can build effective email marketing campaign, allowing you to spend more time on other important aspects of your online business.

Email marketing should be an integral part of promoting any type of online business.  Through this platform, you can enhance brand reputation, reach out to a larger market, and track results in an inexpensive manner.  You can achieve outcomes they would never expect from any other direct marketing platform.  In fact, an email marketing campaign can be effective enough to be an online business’ ONLY means to generate more revenue.
